If you have a printer that is more than 1.5 meters from your printer (and let's face it, who doesn't!) then this product is for you. My new Samsung laser printer had both serial and USB 2 ports. Since USB 2 is supposed to be a superior performance cable, I figured it would be a better match for my laser printer. I was wrong. You don't really need a USB input cable. Having the only USB ports on the front of your computer creates a mess of cables, especially if you want it permanently plugged in like a printer. The USB cable is great for transferring images and large amounts of continuous data when performance and durability are required. To easily send encrypted data from a computer to a printer, all you need is a simple serial port. This even applies to laser printers and photo quality printers. Anything else is just too much. It would be a waste of money. Do yourself a favor and buy this cable so you can place your printer anywhere it can be as loud as it wants but doesn't have to be right in your ear. I highly recommend this article and I won't repeat my mistake about the USB cables, go straight to the parallel port and go straight to AMAZON.com because if you go somewhere else you'll pay a "different" price that's even in the Shop is listed on the corner with guys in blue and yellow shirts!
