Review on Logitech Powered Wireless Charging Graphite by Melanie Lang

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Robust charger. defeated by physics, engineering and outdated specifications.

I bought this dock as I've bought several charging docks from non-branded sellers and they all died for me within 6-8 months of ownership. After a contentious argument with Revain about the repair of my last one and Revain refused to give me the company's contact details, I settled on a company known in the US and had a good warranty and return policy should it become necessary. Sure, the charging station was a lot more expensive than other Asian brand chargers, but I felt like I was paying for a well-made, well-reviewed item with legitimate support behind it. Unfortunately, the result was far from ideal: this charging stand is beaten by its poor design, making me yearn for other Scavenger stands that I could replace four times with brand new ones before they come close to the cost of this stand from Logitech. So, as far as the good parts go: it's solidly built. . It's rubberized on most of the device body, lightweight, and parts of the charging stand won't dangle or wobble. All cables are integrated where they're needed (the Apple Watch charger is built in, for example) and it connects to a wrapped power adapter in case it gets too long where it needs to be plugged in. The indicator light on the device is dim as they surely assume it's being used on your bedside table and they don't want to keep you up at night with a bright blue/red/green LED telling you if your device is plugged in. . It charges devices I plugged into it (more on that later), so it actually works. Technically. Now for the bad and disappointing parts: Firstly, my main gripe is the watch charger. Angled to give you a good view of the display, the static charging arm is designed to hold and charge your watch. Unfortunately, depending on the watch strap, it sucks if the charger actually keeps the connection to the back of the watch and charges the device. It's positioned at such a steep angle that it won't let the watch sit on the charger if your strap is too heavy (some of us wear metal or full leather straps) and gravity is trying to rip it off. If this watch loading lever was adjustable or tilted more horizontally so that gravity would push your back against the loading pad, there would be no problem. But since they tilted it at a steep angle, the only way I can reliably charge my Apple Watch is to take off the watch strap and replace it with a lighter one. I'm not a fan of swapping out accessories for a proper charge and this could have been avoided if there weren't flaws in the design. I'm assuming this is possible so you can use bedside mode, but isn't that goal defeated if your inductive charging phone is to the RIGHT OF IT? Come on guys, don't throw up some stupid add-on and let your tech suck. Pay attention to the physics. Next up is charging the phone itself. It sits to the left of the watch charger, is also static, and has a pointless gap holding the charging pad upright, requiring the phone to be held upright to charge. I don't know why it was designed that way, the only thing I can think of is that putting a larger charging coil in the pad would save money. This is very bad if it's not adjustable or big enough to hide side (landscape) placement on the charger. Some people like to inductively charge while watching videos I've learned from reviews and while it's not my use at all I can see how useful it can be and wonder why Logitech hasn't. enable this option. Bad technology strikes again. Finally, a complaint about the specifications. This device was released in August 2020. The 12W charging specifications for at least the iPhone have been known for over a year and yet this device only has a charging power of 7.5W. Why is that? Why not future test this device so it can be used for years to come? You have all the basic needs: a phone charger, a watch charger, and a #3 multi-device charger. Why give it a low-quality standard that's outdated when Apple or others have decided to switch to the fast-charging method exclusively? . It doesn't make sense, especially for the price they charge. At $130 I expect more from Logitech and this charger could be the ideal gadget for my desk at work where not charging my watch isn't the end of the world. right, or maybe I'll throw it in the bin in 2 years when the standard changes and the thing becomes unusable. In the meantime, I'll look into other vendors like Mophie or Belkin to see if they succeed where Logitech failed. . I'll make sure Logitech releases a replacement that fixes its serious flaws, but I'm not holding my breath.
