We purchased this wired model after returning a wireless model from the same company. We liked it so much we bought another one (one for the bed, one for the sofa). They work great. When you put weight on the pad, a short beep will sound to let you know it's on. When you get up, the alarm will sound and you have two options to cancel it: you can set the alarm lock so only the caregiver can turn it off (with a special key so the patient can't disarm it) or anyone by simply pressing on Button. You can customize the volume, alarm style, and delay. We get false positives from time to time, but only when we're sitting on the edge of the field. Make sure the patient is near the center. We place it under the comforter on the couch and across the bed (side by side) under the center headboard. Note that it doesn't span the entire length of a queen-size bed, but is large enough for twins or a queen-size bed if the patient only sleeps on one side.
