Worked great to connect an external boot drive to my MacBook Pro

I need this cable to connect an external pocket drive to my MacBook Pro 2017 as an alternative boot drive. The drive boots fine when connected through a USB-C mini-dock with the included traditional USB 3.0 cable, but I've had no success with a competing USB-C to microUSB-3 cable (Cable Creations brand ). my external drive is connected directly to one of the USB-C ports via this cable. highlighted.
