Red LEDs are very bright, which is usually exactly what you want when you buy red lights to make your car as visible as possible. (amber ones are not that bright) They actually come with a warning not to look at them directly. I've bought others here which I don't think are bright enough to get the job done. If you need to make a sharp, right-angled bend in the wire to conceal it as it exits the LED, the instructions recommend using a hair dryer to soften the wire and make it more flexible. I cleaned the metal well before gluing the LED on and then clamped it for 24 hours just to make sure it would stick forever and be able to handle 80mph. So far, so good! Also, as an added bonus, they are thick enough that they actually light up from both sides, although not as intensely as the flat side, and in my case act as a side running light and to a lesser extent an additional backup light. . I think the overall design could have been improved if the wire coming out of the fixture formed a sharp, right-angled stripe in the panel it was mounted on. This will hide the wire in these cases and give it a more professional look.
