not as light as halogen

We bought these to replace the halogen bulbs we have in our engine compartment lights. Our current lightbulbs are halogen bulbs that we baked in ourselves and give off a warm glow with a "spotlight" effect on both our countertop and backsplash. We were hoping for something similar in optics but without the temperature of the halogens. The lamps worked great and felt cool. They're easy to install and perfectly sized to match our other bulbs, although you had to tilt them slightly to fit the socket and then slide them all the way into the socket to make them fit perfectly flat in their allotted space. the bulb in the puck lights up. The lid came off with no problems. The installation didn't cause any problems. However, if you want "warm" light, then it's not as warm as halogen. We have a wooden apron with warm wood tones. The LEDs blurred the wood, removing red hues and bringing hues closer to the green spectrum. Even the white switches were painted green. This reduces the "spotlight" effect, so it's fine if that's what you want. We took pictures. The first consists of three light bulbs and the middle one is replaced with an LED light bulb. The second is a low angle shot so you can see the nature of the fixture and the fact that the light isn't as bright as the halogens. The third and fourth photos should show what we're used to, with the halogens in place. If you don't care about the color of the lighting, then that's great. However, we are disappointed by the "warmth". I'm not sure if we'll get them back. . . elsewhere in the house it would be fine.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
