I got this because my star projector night light stopped working and I wanted something new. Right out of the box I could tell that this is of much higher quality than my old one. It's nice solid plastic that feels like it could survive being dropped or bumped into a table a few times (not that I'll test that c ;) The buttons on the bottom aren't actual buttons , they are touch sensitive. , which makes typing a bit difficult (especially in the dark), but it comes with a remote control should you prefer to use it. The product image is also a bit deceptive. It doesn't have many colored lights. It has red, green and blue LEDs. You can set any combination of these colors, but the colors will not mix with each other to create a new one. For example, you can have red and blue waves, but they won't mix into purple. The motor in this lamp is very quiet. So quiet, in fact, that I didn't think it was spinning at first (until I looked up, of course). This thing has sound options built into it, but they annoy me more than they calm me down, so I turned them off. I think you can also plug in your device and play your own sounds or music, but I prefer to just go the old-fashioned route and turn on the fan instead. All in all a great gadget for the price!
