I've been eyeing portable monitors for several months. All I saw was a bunch of unknown Chinese brands. Most of them have good reviews but I didn't like them for several reasons: 1. Most of them have ports on one side and ports/buttons on the other side. This means that you may have problems if you want to use the monitor in portrait mode, as the ports are on top and you cannot access the buttons on the side, which is on the table.2. Many of them have a hole in one of the corners, which allows the handle to be used as a stand. The hole looks very tasteless. Now comes the brand name ViewSonic VG1655 portable monitor that solves these two problems. There is a multi-position button on the back that allows you to access the OSD menu. And it has a built-in kickstand (can be used in both landscape and portrait modes), so there is no hole in it. You pay 40% more than unknown Chinese brands, but you also get a 3-year guarantee. 3 cables included (USB-C to USB-C, USB-C to USB-A, Mini-HDMI). to HDMI), power adapter, carrying case, microfiber cloth, quick start guide and a piece of paper stating that it should be used in 1920x1080 mode. I use a USB-C to USB-C cable with my laptop so I don't have to use an AC adapter. The cables are only about 3 feet long so they can be a bit short if you need to use the AC adapter. I like that there is a right angle connector on one end of the cable - this can be useful in some situations to save space. What I don't like about this monitor is that the colors are dull compared to my laptop. And it has to be an IPS panel, that's the best type of panel. This is very evident when I mirror my laptop screen onto a portable monitor - the colors look bright on my laptop but dull on the ViewSonic. It's not a brightness issue, I have my ViewSonic on maximum brightness (that's the default setting anyway). The colors just look boring and I've tried all the different display modes and color settings. Green and purple seem particularly bad - sometimes they can look very dark, and purple can sometimes look like dark blue. (See the photo I've attached.) Another thing is the button on the back. This has the advantage that you can access all menus and make settings with just a push of a button. You can press the button in 5 directions - up, down, left, right and in. The bad news is that ViewSonic has designed its menus inconsistently. For example, in some sub-menus you need to press the button in one direction to return to the parent menu, and in other sub-menus you need to press the button in the opposite direction to return to the parent menu. Because of this, I found that the menu navigation constantly behaved differently than I expected, as the actions assigned to each direction always changed depending on which submenu I was in. an extra monitor and you're not doing any graphical editing on it, then you'll probably be fine. But with a premium price tag and considering it's a well-known brand, the matte colors are a little disappointing. Finally, the most important thing you should evaluate the monitor for is the picture quality. If vivid colors are important to you, there are other portable monitors that offer a wide color gamut for about the same price as this monitor.
