2 stars — recommend against purchasingI returned this for two reasons. First, it doesn't lock in place properly. If my foot knocked it (even a little) while stepping on it, it would start to shimmy or shake. I couldn't trust that it would stay locked while on it.The second reason is minor: I wanted a step so that my arthritic cat didn't have to jump as much to reach her sunny spot. The size of the hand-hold gap is too large relative to the stool. It's fine for large humans but unsuitable for animals (or small children).I have seen competing brands using the same folding design that are sturdier. Most are about the same price, too, if not cheaper.
