For very cold weather; it really gives off enough heat. The hood can be annoying - I'll probably change it somehow - maybe add buttons to keep it in place so it doesn't fall on my face and block my view - but the hood is also very warm. There are a lot of ropes that I have to secure somehow because they get caught on things that can be really dangerous. I got the red coat which was the cheapest. This is a really great coat - very soft and has lots of pockets. I love it. I paid a great low price of $59. because I wanted red. Other colors were $20 more expensive at the end of January. It fits really well. There's no room for a sweater, but I'm sure I'll never need it in this coat.
