After researching loads of electric fondue pots I settled on this one and it arrived last week. Visually I thought it was a bit small at first, but it was the perfect size for the homemade "Swiss Fondue" I made for the two of us last night. But while I can see this being used for a party of 4 or perhaps as part of a buffet, I think 6 people trying to dine from this at the same time would be pushing the limits (six colour-coded stainless steel fondue forks are included in the kit). ). Everything in this set is well made; The base, stainless steel pan and jug insert are strong and have a good weight. I prepared the cheese fondue in a separate saucepan on the stove as directed and then poured it into the ceramic pitcher insert. Pour an inch or two of water into a stainless steel pot (which you will use alone without an oil or fondue pot insert), place the pot insert and turn on the heat. It was SO nice not having to fiddle with the Sterno, and while there are no numbers or high-low markers on the dial, it was very easy to just increase or decrease the temperature accordingly. My fondue stayed creamy smooth, didn't crack or flake, and was the perfect table temperature without burning the bottom. Hand wash is recommended, but that wasn't a test. What a joy this device is! I see many wonderful fondue preparations in our near future.
