This is our first slime making. I needed to expel slime (precooked) from my house due to carpet damage. But we moved into a house with no carpet and my daughter was nearing her 9th birthday. She loves mermaids so the packaging was perfect. After the guests left the party, my 5 year old and 9 year old wanted to make slime. Attempt 1 failed, it spread over the bowl and hands and disappeared. We tried again without cleaning the bowl and it worked, I don't think we used enough activator. The second, third, fourth, and fifth batches were great except the pink dye turned purple. When we added the color it looked pink but the slime was purple. My kids shared the ingredients and made 6 batches in total and had a blast. They found that they like to add a little more activator and make the slime bouncy rather than liquid. If you pull the slime slowly it will stretch, pull it quickly and it will break, throw it on the ground and it will bounce. Much easier to control than liquid slime. We all really liked the set. I wish different sets were more different. But if you compare 3 sets, they all have the same additives and coloring (pink, purple and blue), only the outer egg and the recipe names are different. I want to buy my son a galaxy egg kit (because I trust this brand) but want it to have green, orange, and blue (or any color other than pink, purple, and teal) dye and colorful glitter (shell confetti), I guess). and the mermaid tail charms are different but nothing else) We have spare glitter and styrofoam balls and would like more colors in another set. My daughter dropped one of the mermaid tail charms and it broke on impact. She was sad because you only have 3 of these and they are made of fragile plastic. The instructions are written strangely - each recipe starts with "start with the main batch of slime" BUT before you add the activator, add...(no matter what is added), if you don't read beforehand you'll screw up on the next line. The slime is based on 30 ml of glue and an activator. So why not just write step 1? Place 30ml of glue in bowl 2. Add your supplement to 3 scoops of activator. Instead they wrote 2 sentences to explain something that could be better understood with a tiny straight line. The instructions confused us several times. Overall we loved the set and would love to buy more if they make a gender neutral set or add new dyes, glitter and other accessories - a galaxy set can be so cool and good for boys. or girls with little change.
