Only close the laptop lid when your computer is off. Putting your laptop to sleep and then closing the lid will mess up your trackpad. With an external webcam cover, you get some privacy at the expense of some convenience. Although it doesn't really matter. Once removed, this webcam cover cannot be reattached as it will lose its attachment.
