This is an excellent diamond stone for its money. Before using, rub for 3-5 minutes with a flat piece of hardened steel and plenty of water to go over each side several times to remove excess abrasive before using to sharpen a real blade (I have an old 3-inch -Used ball bearings, that worked well). This ensures that you don't embed excess diamond abrasive from manufacturing into your actual blade. This stone can quickly remove material from even the toughest blades compared to regular stone. The 600 grit is ideal. for profiling, and the 1200 grit side provides a good clean in preparation for final sharpening. Diamond stone will definitely help you get there.
