On my 2014 Hyundai Veloster the reverse lockout is under the grip itself. When I installed this new grip on my derailleur I was unable to shift into reverse. The handle is screwed in too tight and there is not enough room to lock reverse gear. I currently have rubber bands on the adapter so I don't have to screw the knob in too deep so it doesn't get too wobbly. If you don't want to come up with some crazy reversing device, stay away from this product.
