It just doesn't work

I really like this product but I have to accept the negative reviews. It seems like it just spreads oil and dirt all over the lenses making them look less clean than they were before I started. As mentioned in one of the other reviews, I tried light pressure, medium pressure, hard pressure and breathing on the lens first. The result is the same. I was hoping to give them away as stockings to family members this Christmas, but no luck. Wouldn't buy again. I'm really amazed at the many positive reviews, but maybe I got a defective product?
