The material is thin but holds up well to washing. I made her wear shorts underneath. I also had to trim the extra strings, but that didn't make a difference to me. Very cute and she got so many compliments on her dress! She is 44 inches tall and weighs 41 pounds. wears 5T or 4/5. I ordered a size for 4-5 years. Fits perfectly.
