Looking for lightweight, comfortable headphones with decent sound (and WITHOUT hyped bass - look, Beats by Dre!) that don't cost a fortune. I wanted them for the gym and making music in my studio with my laptop when I'm not at home. I didn't need or want noise-cancelling, and these headphones don't have it. I'd love to try them first, but I've always had a high opinion of Audio Technica, so I took a chance. You can order them online without testing them for sound quality and comfort. These headphones come with instructions and a charging cable. That's all. Packaging is solid, mostly cardboard with the seemingly inevitable non-recyclable plastic tray. The headphones are foldable and I was able to find an old padded headphone case from a previous pair to store for transport. I invited them in, put them in my pocket and was ready to go. First, training time. I like wearing them to the gym with no problems - they stay on my head, don't get in the way, light and comfortable. Next, laptop time. I waited hours for a friend yesterday so I could test them out as tracking headphones during a nearly 4 hour Ableton Live laptop session and they never felt uncomfortable or ran out of battery. Even with my expensive studio headphones, my ears started to hurt after 2-3 hours, so it was a pleasant revelation. I haven't tried them on a phone call yet, but I don't care - who else uses an iPhone to TALK!? The controls are easy to use and I had no problems connecting via Bluetooth. I haven't tested their battery life yet, but I don't think this will be an issue for my intended use. The headphones are really very comfortable, which is a very, very big plus. The sound quality is decent. When listening to iTunes at the gym, I found the sound to be decent but felt a little flat without much clarity. While they don't have super-hyped bass frequencies, the sound was still a little... harsh. When tracking with Ableton on my laptop, the audio quality didn't bother me and I felt like I was hearing a clearer sound field and I felt that the mids and highs were okay. But to be honest I made pretty heavy electronic music with bass. Let's see how it will sound on my studio speakers. Generally decent solid headphones with decent sound. Well made and reliable. I'm happy with them.
