I installed a flush mount box on my desk. It fits perfectly into the 3.5" hole as instructed in the instructions and the bottom/bottom ring screws in neatly, keeping the device flush and snug to the table surface. You can also fix the floor ring using one of the existing screw holes. The whole setup looks very neat and everything works very well. This socket looks great and is very easy to install. This is very convenient as it allows you to charge a large number of devices without the bulky USB adapter that is usually used. I only have one of these - installed on my desk where I charge my phone while also plugging in my computer and ethernet cable. As a result, I can't use a power strip with a 4-channel adapter for charging and still have a socket available. It's surprisingly thin and the aesthetics of this product are very well built. well done :)
