I received my Black Rapid RS-7 today and I love it! This is definitely a big difference from the original Canon strap. I have to admit that having thousands of dollars worth of gear just dangling from your side is a little intimidating, but with a little vigilance to make sure the strap is secure I think those worries are alleviated. I think as always all I have to do is keep my hand on the strap I attached to my 5DMK2 and you'll be fine. Still, great strap and I'll be buying another one for my backup soon. UPDATE 6-9-2013: Well I've had the Black Rapid RS-7 for about a month now. Yesterday while taking a break from filming a wedding, one of the videographers approached me about a Black Rapid strap. He told me he had the exact same setup and then showed me his RS-7. He reported that there had been complaints of the carbine falling off the oval metal ring it was in and showed me how he modified his carbine to prevent a catastrophic fall of his gear. Basically, he took two 4-way zip ties and attached carabiners to each side. He then took an 8" zip tie and made a loop in the oval ring, from there he attached the zip tie's S-bar to the Black Rapid carabiner. He also attached 8" cable ties to the clip closure that secures the black rapid strap and prevents it from accidentally opening. Like me, he had several thousand dollars' worth of gear that normally hung on the Black Threshold, so he wanted extra security. Well, as soon as I got home last night I pretty much mimicked his setup. I took the zip ties and attached the plastic clip that closed and opened the PC-7, then took two zip ties and attached the carabiner to the oval ring. Finally, I made a loop in the oval ring with a cable tie and attached the Nite Ize S to the loop and carabiner. So if, god forbid, the oval ring fails and the carabiner comes loose, two zip ties and an S-clip attached to another zip tie will serve as insurance. I know it sounds a bit extreme, but I'd rather they didn't work. attached safes when I saw my gear shatter on the floor. The mods themselves don't affect the functionality of the RS-7, other than I can't unbuckle the seat belt because I fastened it, which I never did anyway as I just put the RS-7 over my head , which is probably what 95% of Black Rapid owners do. My point is that I'm by no means saying the RS-7 is a bad product because I love my Black Rapid, but like I said before, with a few thousand bucks hanging around my waist, I prefer to go on To be safe in the future. I added photos of my modification on the site. Check them out and see if it helps. I would also like to hear from Black Rapid about a few bugs that I have confirmed to be occurring on the Black Rapid RS-7.
