What I had to do to make this work somehow was cover part of the star with masking tape and then lightly use one Sponge brush, remove the star stencil, then apply more paint to the sponge to cover the entire star. I tried doing the same thing with one when the stars were smaller but it almost didn't work and I had to use tape to outline the star on the wall. and then paint, I only made a small star in the process, it would take me a few days to finish the corner. So I just used a stencil of a major and second major star. Good luck with your project.
