I had a K30 for two years that succumbed to a horrific shutter motor failure. So I thought that the K50 would already solve all these problems. And admittedly, when I bought this camera in June 2015, there were no problems. Well it's Christmas 2015 and the K50 has failed just like the K30. Precision Camera, Pentax's sole source for US warranty work, looked at it about a week later and set it to parts pending status. So here's what's wrong with this image. First, the K50 didn't fix a common problem with the previous camera model. As far as I know, KS-1 and KS-2 may have the same problem. Pentax has not provided any evidence that they are interested in fixing any issues with the product - K3 has carried the mirror flop issue onto the K3 ii and relies on patching the firmware to prevent the mirror from failing being smashed instead of scaling up from the start. Another problem is that there are no spare parts available for the known problem. I don't think this is Precision Camera's fault. I'm hoping the delay is because the aperture motor is solving a problem, but I'm not holding my breath. In 5 days the PC has my camera for a month. I'm not holding my breath either. I really should have bought the K5 ii when it was available from Pentax approved vendors. Yes, it's 4 years old, but the images are fine and the bounce rate is much lower. If I didn't like my lenses, I would probably choose Canon or Nikon. Could still do that.
