I originally bought it because I couldn't.
I originally bought this because I couldn't find replacement rubbers (not silicone) for my old eyelash curler. It was reasonably priced and I chose one with silicone pads. This curler actually works pretty well. I still think it's made for Asian eyes. I'm only half Asian and this works well enough for me, but I can see it might be too "shallow" for many non-Asians. American style curlers tend to be fuller and it took me a few times to get used to them after using the American style ones for so long. So far, after a few months of use, I have never had my lashes pinched at the edges or accidentally plucked while using it.
