Not upholstered. Simply flat.
The description says "soft" but it isn't. It's pretty thin and flat. I wanted the strap to be bulky but it wasn't. And I had to pay for return shipping even though the description was wrong. :( I'm sure it has some extras (I think) to possibly justify the description, but for all practical purposes there aren't any.
