in general, a very successful lens, primarily due to its versatility. I shot beautiful landscapes, and a reportage, and a portrait, and such a macro on it. for landscape, the main jamb is the blurry angles at 15-16mm, from about 18mm they are much better, but this can be seen on large print or at 100% viewing. also on a wide angle there is a small barrel and HA, but they are corrected by the profile in FS almost without a trace. the colors are good, but not perfect, and require little touch-up compared to good elech colors. the contrast is excellent, and allows you to sharpen almost imperceptibly. I had three copies, and each of them blurred the right edge a little. I don’t know if I was so lucky, or if it’s a jamb with an optical design, but it’s a fact, I had three copies in total for two years. at the long end, I always liked portraits from it, and despite the completely non-portrait aperture, at f5.6 there was quite a nice expensive bokeh, without any hexagons and donuts, the sharpness at the long end was excellent, albeit softer than at the short one. at 85mm it is also interesting to shoot objects from MDF, nice bokeh and decent sharpness in the center, just right for flowers. the construct, although with a creeping trunk, is better than that of the 24-105L, and unlike the latter, the trunk of the 15-85 did not fall out when tilted down after six months of use. I didn’t drown the lens, but once I dropped it on stones, and apart from a small scratch, nothing happened to it, which means it’s strong. well, after many months of work in harsh field conditions, the performance of the lens has not deteriorated in any way, apart from a few dust particles that do not affect. however, in general, in terms of all characteristics (af, sharpness, distortion, constructive), I consider the lens to be one of the best for crop! if there are glasses better in something, then in general they will still lose. except for canon 17-55 / 2.8, which is better not only due to aperture, but due to more uniform sharpness across the entire field of the frame, although with much larger XA, less accurate af, a little more weight and a decent price.
