I bought this because I use my laptop with a projector. The VGA port on my new laptop is on the left side of the cable source. The protruding cable was always in the way and it was easy to detach. This adapter fits snugly and gets the cable right out of the way. And because it fits so well, running projector cables is a thing of the past. My only recommendation is to make sure it's going in the direction you want it to go. My laptop has a wide side VGA port on top so the adapter comes out the back. If the wide side were down, it would stick out forward and then get in the way.
