Review on πŸ“Έ GoPro AADIV-001 Super Suit: Ultimate Dive Housing for HERO7/HERO6/HERO5 by Kyle Tebow

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The supersuit started leaking after the 14th dive, to a maximum depth of 30 meters. Troubleshooting and replacing the seal did not help. replaced!

EDIT from 2 stars to 4: Although the limited warranty has expired I chatted online with the Go Pro and they were very helpful, nice and gone quickly. I'm working on getting a replacement shipped to me during the business week. Unfortunately I missed a lot of great shooting opportunities and wasted a lot of time and frustration trying to get my supersuit to work on the Great Barrier Reef, but I'm glad they stand behind their product and are offering a replacement. For dealing with a glitch, headache, trying to fix it and getting a replacement, I only give 4 stars. Thanks Go ProThis supersuit started leaking after 14 dives in Bali and Northeast Indonesia. I think through the buttons. The door and seals were lubricated with silicone and replaced, and numerous underwater photographers were unable to locate the source of the leak for several days. This error made it impossible for me to get any useful video during my 16+ dives in Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. Thankfully, the camera survived the supersuit's saltwater bath and is still working perfectly. I'm hoping to get a spare suit because this seemed like an unusual place for supersuits to fail. Many divemasters and underwater photographers have looked at it and have never seen a bug like mine. The online warranty didn't leave enough time to pack and organize my entire camera bag and tool kit for my trip so this is frustrating hopefully we can figure something out. The other big problem with a case is wet areas, if the camera gets hot in the suit it can cause the case to fog up and render the lens unusable until it dries. It's not that easy in the jungle of Indonesia. Having to open the suit to change the battery meant moisture could get in and I really had to make sure to dry the camera in the process. To prevent fogging I dried the suit as much as possible and then put 2 packets of "dry salts" in it while the batteries charged or not. This helped keep humidity levels to a minimum. The humidity fog problem I don't expect the supersuit to be to blame or fixed. I believe that if you travel through the jungle with a camera, you will encounter such difficulties. But something that can help inform people. With a Go-Pro, it's a good idea to buy a pack of salt sticks. Otherwise, the suit would be a reliable and comfortable protection.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
