Review on Ultimate Life Poncho: All-Weather Emergency Blanket for Survival by Justin Peck

A must for a family of backpackers and hikers and in a land of fires and earthquakes

Although my husband and I are in a safer area and mostly stay at home, our entire extended family is involved in hiking and climbing in of the wilderness, and some have either jobs or homes, putting them in the middle of areas prone to fire, flooding and sudden evacuations. And of course California, where all but one live, is at the heart of earthquakes! When I saw this article for review, I knew it was the one for us. With any luck we won't have to test it in real life disaster conditions, but at least two members of my family will find it in their stockings this holiday. The ponchos are rolled up tightly in a small duffel bag. In the picture in the item description, the duffel bags appear as big as sleeping bags, but are only about five to six centimeters long and maybe three centimeters in diameter. The whistle is attached to the sports bag at the end of the cord. I tried blowing it in, which sounds good, but I think it would take a young man with more lung power than me to get the full effect. I opened it to get the poncho out. I can easily change it manually. Obviously it wasn't securely fastened in the end when stitched. I did not fully unroll and try on the poncho. To be honest, although it was carefully folded to roll it up and put it in a tracksuit, I think there would be enough trouble folding it back that I didn't want to do it. It's easy enough to see if you take it out and open it up a bit that there's Mylar inside. You can also say that the ponchos are very light and practical to swing with mylar on the outside to attract the attention of someone from a height or someone walking through the forest with a flashlight looking for you. I remember when one of my daughters and her family got stuck in their car overnight on the way home from our house for Christmas. The famous vine in the Southern California mountains was covered in snow and everyone was stuck on the freeway. Ponchos like these would be great! If you live somewhere like California, in almost any area, and you travel, camp, or hike, I suggest this is a good addition to your gear. And carrying it in a backpack adds very little weight and takes up almost no space.
