I was pleasantly surprised that these shoes are of very good quality, especially at this price point. Over the years I have tried and loved Solomon, Merrell, Oboz and other high end shoes. In most cases you get what you pay for. This time NORTIV 8 gave more than the ticket price. Many consumers are tired of paying "brand tax" on popular products, and so many other manufacturers are quickly catching up in quality and design for less money. Test: The purpose of buying this shoe was hiking and trekking. I took spare shoes with me, but I never needed them. Of course I pre-checked with them before leaving and had no problems. It took very little break in and they didn't soften much, retaining their shape and support. During my adventures I had the opportunity to test them in wet conditions and they kept my feet dry. Traction is mediocre, but it works on slippery shale rock with minimal issues. The profile isn't as aggressive and you can still walk into a store and not feel like you're walking in trail running shoes. The profile is best described as trail friendly and doesn't pick up mud balls. The tread pattern wicks away dirt and debris with ease. To be honest I replaced the insole which I do on all boots and boots. The included insole is actually quite good, but maybe too spongy for my needs. The sizing seems accurate for the US foot and with a medium weight hiking sock they fit well. The color and design are modern, the laces are of very good quality and a spare lace is even included. These shoes are also easy to clean after getting caught in mud. Longevity is unknown but I walk local trails and bike lanes and will probably get bored with these shoes before they need replacing. Now I'm thinking about their mid-rise version as well. For the price, they have a firm place in the shoe game.
