As someone with a degree in animal health, including nutrition, I hate pet food standards. I'm exaggerating, most cat food is nutritionally comparable to cardboard, but for those who don't know a little stew, cats are ABSOLUTELY carnivores. This evolutionary aspect of cats is aided by the lack of carbohydrate-splitting enzymes in their saliva. Fun little fact: They also lack the taste buds that perceive "sweet" tastes since they aren't adapted to eating foods containing glucose. Because of these facts, I am constantly reconsidering my feeding decisions for my furry feline companion. I will only feed her grain free. I am looking for the meatiest products I can find as there is no benefit from the potatoes, carrots etc advertised in the products. She loves this food! Being a cat and therefore having to be complex, she only eats 1/3 of a can. This is normal as this product can be easily stored in a container or ziplock bag. If it doesn't seem juicy enough, I add leftover chicken broth or fish oil to give it extra moisture and nutrients. Even without it, she happily eats all the leftovers. I have to try other scents as she is special. While I wish there was more variety in their food than bugs and lizards, this salmon flavor is my absolute pick. I have bought it four times and will continue to buy it; as it is the best choice of canned food in my arsenal to keep my fluffy little baby in excellent health.
