I waited several weeks to use these heaters before writing this review. Initially, I wasn't sure how to shift and brake with handlebar-mounted heaters. It turns out that this is not a problem at all. I have the ends of the rods so I cut out holes and poke them through. These things are very warm, I've ridden all winter and no longer need heavy gloves to keep me warm. You can ride with the zips open to cool off, which is a must, otherwise you'll get too hot. I'm driving in Montreal, this winter it's been -30C and my feet are cold before my hands since I started using heating pads. For me they were a game changer in the winter.
