I was concerned this would not work with my Samsung tablet or Android phone for some reason but it worked great. No application software installation is required. I plugged the USB into my laptop and loaded a bunch of movies onto the memory card. Then I flipped it over and plugged the USB Type-C connector into my phone, clicked the USB connect icon and allowed permission. and i went to "files" and played the movie straight from the memory card on my phone and it worked great!
