Review on ☕ Advanced SMC01 iCoffee Remote Brew App, 1.5 L, Black by Jordan Doyle

Great product but not perfect.

The grinder is very noisy. The first brew had a bitter taste, but this could easily be corrected by using a coarser grind. Does not issue notifications even though all required permissions are present. How to fix it? I usually drink my coffee slowly, so the 40-minute timer to keep the coffee warm is frustratingly short; Maybe that's why the coffee is always brewed hotter than I prefer. The app is easy to use, as is the machine itself. As for the IFTTT integration, I couldn't get the 'cook' context to work, but the 'brew coffee' action works fine; I've integrated IFTTT into Tasker and love the extra control this feature offers. Hours before it appeared, I contacted support via the app's built-in chat feature and received an immediate response; it was very valuable. I won't be using the location or time based features, but they're a logical and nice addition. It's great that it comes with a reusable filter and the filter is pretty easy to clean. It's more expensive than many other smart coffee makers, but it has all the features I need, so I'm not complaining about that. The initial setup was quite complex; It failed to connect to my phone 3 times before it worked. LPT: Never forget to keep the water tank full! My second attempt at brewing failed because I forgot to refill the tank after the first use. It's silly that Alexa can turn the brewer on and off but doesn't do anything else. Why would Alexa integration be so limited? Delivery was surprisingly quick. The machine grinds the beans surprisingly quickly; When brewing a pourover, I don't run out of coffee beans as quickly as I do with this machine. The most annoying thing is that it brews less coffee than it should; The 4 cup setting brews 1 cup and the 12 cup setting brews 3 cups.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • I am concerned
