Good choice for sports headphones

I find the Sony MDR-AS50G to be excellent sports headphones. I go for a morning walk/jog and regular in-ear headphones are fine for walking, but they keep popping out of my ears when I run. I looked around, read reviews and settled on these Sony headphones. I'm glad I did. They sit very comfortably in my ear and don't move during the running portion of my workout. Unlike some other reviewers, I don't have a problem with pulling too hard, but I suspect it varies from user to user. I hardly notice I'm wearing them. Another feature I appreciate is the short cord. Ideal if, like me, you carry your iPhone, iPod or MP3 player on your arm. It's great that you don't have to mess with a 2ft cord. If you need a longer cable because you use a treadmill or elliptical trainer and don't wear a wristband, the headphones come with a free extension cable. In terms of fidelity, I listen to audiobooks on my iPhone and set the equalizer for spoken words. To me, the sound quality is just great, but I understand that when you're listening to music, Sony might be overlooked. They seem to have a little less bass than my previous headphones, but to be clear I'm judging them by audiobooks, not music. One criticism I have of the AS50G is that the earhook - the part that goes up from the earbud and over your ear - can be a bit taller. I find it just hits the top of my ear and I understand how annoying it can be for some. I just adjust them a little and they suit me. My only other criticism would be the case, which is too big. The good news is that the headphones naturally go back to being a small circle that's easy to pack. They don't keep the shape shown in the picture of the headphones in the ad, which is good! For this reason I have not used the case yet. They pack easily, take up almost no space, and don't have a long cord to get tangled. All in all great headphones for sports. Stays in place, feels impervious to sweat and rain, and has a short cord to plug into an armband so it doesn't get in the way during my workout.

Pros
  • 9mm EX for a comfortable fit and deep bass
