I don't know what I expected. But this little speaker lived up to my expectations. The sound quality is good. I had to deduct a star because the first one I received didn't even turn on. But of course Revane easily traded him. So I had to wait over a week before actually trying it, but my first impression is that it sounds very, very nice. I don't know how to party with lol though. I'm a makeup artist and I always take some background music with me when I have clients. My customers are always very happy that I have music. I've been trying to stop taking my expensive Bose portable player with me. So this will help. If you buy this as a gift, please remember that there is no original box. And I understand that the first one didn't work. So if I gifted us to someone, I'd probably just get a brand new one. Otherwise I think you will like it. If all you want is a small speaker with a sound that isn't too loud, then this is for you. The tone that comes out is very clean and when cranked all the way up it's not my muffled tone which is nice. Overall I am very satisfied and it met my expectations. Although I wanted it to exceed my expectations, it isn't.
