So I usually wear size 8 women's shoes. For size 8 women it says I should order M (women's 7.5-8.5) but on another pair (other brand) they were marked 40/41 (that's European size) for L (women's size 9.5 -10.5) and they are wearable but tight. I would just take out the inserts but there is a rough floor to hold the insert. I hope they stretch a little and all goes well with them. But I'm glad my sister didn't order M, otherwise I wouldn't be able to wear them.
