I bought this because I wanted to create a shabby chic look and I wanted something with touches of pink and purple as I was going to use some of those . my old sheets, pillowcases, etc. that can be seen. I have a very high bed (you have to get up to get up) so I had to take a double bed, although my bed is smaller it still doesn't quite reach the floor but covers well. I can buy a bed skirt, but it won't look bad if I don't buy it. The duvet isn't that comfortable to lie on (as if you don't want to sleep on it) but the underside is softer and a nice weight so it suits me as I mostly use it on a sheet and/or a thin duvet and the extra weight helps me sleep without getting overheated.
