I just needed something to remind myself not to use the hand I hurt and needed some rest. on my left hand, except for part of the strap, tended to slip at an odd angle. It was very convenient and very easy. As I get hot most of the time I was glad it wasn't too hot. It offers good support without being too bulky. Because the metal is only on the underside (it runs just under the heel of your hand and then about 4 inches behind your wrist), it won't completely immobilize your wrist or hand, but it does restrict your range of motion enough to minimize it though when you need to hold things nearly as strong as plaster of paris, you need a splint with metal on the top and bottom, not just the bottom.
