Having used one of the original Smart Keyboards with my original Apple iPad Pro a few years ago, I was surprised when I received the new version needed for my new iPad Pro. While the original version felt relatively streamlined and lightweight, the latest version's design has been completely redesigned: instead of folding the keyboard to create a soft surface for the front of the device, in this version the keyboard simply lies flat against the screen. And while the original version didn't offer anything to protect the back of the device, this new model has a solid back as well. The thickness of this back panel is a lot thicker than the standard shell I'm used to and the keyboard part feels a lot thicker too. When using the keyboard to type, the feel/play is more like a key/button press than the original. Ultimately, if I had never seen or met the original, I probably would have rated it higher. Unfortunately, I still feel the extra weight and size, so I can't in good conscience give good marks across the board. most likely specifically designed to be what they are. offers more protection and a more realistic typing experience than the original.
