Review on ๐Ÿšถ Walking Presser for Husqvarna Designer by Jessica Lewis

The Good Thing

I'm not a seamstress. I only sew COVID19 masks for as many people as possible. I have no experience with walking legs. This is my first. Bought this for my Viking Emerald 118 and was initially skeptical as it is not a Viking part but from China. I relied on an expensive purchase ๐Ÿ’ฆ but a great need. Even after reading all the bad reviews out of desperation I wanted to try it. After all the misunderstandings about this walking leg, I understand why others gave it bad grades. Initially, the metal bottom sole will crack/weaken when stitching on uneven, thick surfaces. When this happens, the needles can fail and break, so you need to recognize when the underside of the sole has failed and put them back in. There are tabs on either side where you snap them into place. Sew at the lowest possible speed and even manually turn the sewing machine wheel in the most difficult places. I believe there is a good reason the sole is connected the way it is. If it were permanently attached, it would likely break. I sew eight layers, lots of stitches and glue. * Tape the seams as they have holes that make it easy for COVID19 to pass through. Much luck!

Pros
  • Quilters sew voluminous layers of fabric and cotton wool together easily and without complication. Helps maintain an even check and stripe. Comes with a fine top stitch guide that adjusts left or right. Note: On some models it may be necessary to slightly adjust the needle position for the hole in the sewing foot.
Cons
  • No instructions
