Ideal for cat litter, LID STAYS OPEN, works with shopping bags

YES IT WORKS WITH SHOPPING BAG. YES, THE LID OPENS ITSELF. It took me a ridiculous amount of time to find a cat litter container that met the following criteria: works with grocery bags and the lid stays open while I use it. The answers to the questions here can't seem to decide whether it works or not, so I ended up buying this jar in hopes of a miracle. I'm writing this review solely for people like me who just want these two answers to be as clear as possible. - Works with shopping bags. The smaller ones can be harder to pull on the outside handles, but they still work well. Standard bags from QFC, Walmart, etc. work 100% properly. Yes, you can see it from the outside, but if like me you use it for cat litter, who cares? Look at the photo how it looks when closed with a shopping bag. Also included is a picture of the inner glass (pulled from the silver outer glass) with a storage pouch attached to it. The lid stays open by itself. When you use the pedal, it slowly lowers on its own, but you just have to push it back a little and it stays open. You can also easily open the lid by hand / it stays open. Look at the drawing to see that it actually stays open on its own. Someone in another review suggested adding a special magnetic cat litter dustpan basket to the outside. I couldn't find it in stock at the time and spent hours trying to find an alternative that would fit my bucket size. As it turned out, it wasn't necessary at all. The scoop fits comfortably in the jar. Of course you don't want to keep it handle down for cleanliness reasons, but given the existing junk is at the bottom of the bag I see no reason not to (and the job requires hand washing anyway). It fits comfortably when the bag can be 1/3 full. More than that? That said, it's ok, the lid may be "slightly open" at the top of the can and sticking out an inch, and it still won't open on its own. In this case, I didn't have any problems with the smell either. NOTE: The attached picture of the closed lid has a cat scoop. This really is a great jar and just what I needed for my litter box. Fits in a small space, looks a lot better than a regular bucket, has a lid that stays open, storage pockets work and has handle attachments that keep it in place, a shovel fits in. I have 3 cats / 2 cat bins that I empty daily - I change the bag when it's about 2/3 full (lasts a couple of days). Feel free to ask questions, I found this very difficult to research as not many cases of cat litter have been used + conflicting answers for things like a lid.
