Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Reliable Power Solution: Nintendo Switch AC Adapter for Uninterrupted Gaming by Trish Edens

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than a USB-C to USB-A cable. And safer - in some cases.

Read more about USB-C cables and you'll find that powering devices through them can be a daunting task. It's not like the original USB where everything seemed to be universally adaptable and if you could plug it into a port everything would be fine. Apparently there are many manufacturers that make bad USB-C cables and some people have even burned USB-C rechargeable laptops with non-standard USB-C cables and adapters. Batteries are empty even though they are connected. Then I started reading about how many bad USB-C cables there are and realized that this adapter probably wasn't a bad impulse buy. So I got it back and started using it again. Of course it sucks, I can't just plug a plain USB-C to USB-A cable into any USB-AC adapter and power my Switch on it, or plug the same cable into my laptop while I'm on a plane. I don't want to damage my devices though, so I'll stick with it until I hear about updated standards or something better. This power supply has never failed since I received the switch and I've been using it. a lot of. So, my experience combined with the information available makes me stick with this adapter despite the inconvenience. Another note: If you aren't already doing this, you should start filtering Amazon reviews using The Review Index. There is a plugin for Chrome, or you can paste the product url on their website. This allows you to filter out unconfirmed purchases and see if a high percentage of unconfirmed purchase reviews have 5-star ratings and are written by review spammers: people with hundreds or thousands of reviews are paid to leave dozens of 5-star EVERYDAY to write reviews. and their accounts generally show an average rating of 4.75 stars or higher. That's how I found out that most USB-C to USB-A cables on Amazon are actually bad products that look good thanks to hundreds of fake 5-star reviews. better with The Review Index.
