Wednesday October 2018 I bought this cable after many Baofeng radio owners said they prefer more expensive cables to cheaper cables. My experience was interesting, many owners of such cables stated that "they just work with Linux without additional software and support". (except Chirp) and to be honest as a Linux user I was drawn to this product. Long story short, it didn't work with Chirp on Linux, even after updating to the latest version of Chirp. I even downloaded and created a Chirp Live CD. This didn't work either. However, the programming cable worked perfectly under Windows 10 in combination with the current version of Chirp. I was able to update (program) all my Baofeng radio channels and add much needed NOAA channels for my area. A few additional notes: The Linux distribution used is the unmodified "generic 4.15.0-36 x86_64 generic variant". The Live CD was the latest and the Windows software used was Windows 10 Pro, current at the time of review. or create labels. There is no way to be sure that the product is genuine or has previously belonged to that particular package. The cable itself is also free of markings or factory labels. photos included. Take it for what it's worth to you.
