I love this thing. but it is only raw wood. I would say "as you can get it at the dollar store" but I don't think they have that mold there and it's definitely not painted yet. So the thing is, I imagine the paint can be scratched off fairly easily, so I put a clear coat on it (wood paint) to make sure it wouldn't chip off easily. He's already gotten in with a few small calls, but I'm not going to throw a tantrum about it. what should i call her Hm. The parts you store things in are pretty small, but I suppose they'll be fine for pencils or something short. If you want to store pens or markers, you'll probably want to store them in the penultimate places on each page (so places 2 and 5 counting from the left), so I just put small items in the other pieces. Be aware that if you demonstrate this you can see the smooth/exposed wood inside. So if this is a problem for you, don't buy it. Overall I like it because it works for my needs and I'm not that picky (and I liked this rainbow design more than others I've found here) but just thought you should know! It's more decorative than particularly useful, and remember that it's mainly designed to hold short items!
