So all switches are smart switches and I needed a way to protect them from the outside. These didn't work at first. They are designed for positive contact in all directions. Smart switches require a momentary push up or down. When you're ready to void your warranty, you can remove the outer plastic switch. Inside you will see a piece of metal that comes out with pliers. Grinding the burrs that also hold it in place completes the setup. It takes a bit of thought and finesse, and again voids the warranty. Most importantly, I didn't touch the real rubber membrane to keep my switches safe and working as intended. Final disclaimer: I'm in Arizona where it doesn't rain that much. After fitting them I really like the look of these switches and they work great.
