I bought a gauge 89562 from Moroso to ensure maximum life and best performance for very expensive high performance tires on my new car. In the past I've had too many tires that wore unevenly due to improper inflation from using standard economy sensors. I firmly decided that this would not happen again. The cost of this route may seem high at first, but it's a fraction of the cost of a new set of performance tires. I have three cars and this gauge showed each of them had the wrong pressure. This is the only pressure gauge I have and I am confident that the tire pressure is correct (I have worked with scientific instruments throughout my 30 year career as a physicist). I have opted for a mechanical mechanism in this gauge (as opposed to the electronic sensing technology used in some other gauges). My confidence in a well-designed mechanical gauge was greater because I felt it was easier (easier and cheaper) to build an accurate mechanical gauge than an electronic gauge with the same accuracy. A NOTICE. Don't confuse PRECISION with PRECISION. Most manufacturers are wrong. Accuracy is the ability of a pressure gauge to correctly read pressure on an absolute scale. Accuracy is the ability to see the difference between two pressure readings. Most manufacturers claim a high degree of accuracy for their gauges when they really mean accuracy. High accuracy is the property required to inflate to the correct pressure. This gauge is reproducible (same from one measurement to the next) and easy to see on a large scale. The seal between the tire changer and the valve stem is excellent, virtually eliminating air leakage. You must hold the sensor vertically (as instructed) to get an accurate reading. This is a high quality instrument that comes in a special protective case for safekeeping. This should translate into longer tire life (change less frequently) and better tire performance (better traction and fuel economy). I would highly recommend this sensor to anyone, especially those with high performance and/or expensive tires. UPDATE (November 20, 2014) Service desks - too much depends on both the hardware and the attention of the person doing the task. I always check my tire pressures when I get home when I know they've done something to my tires. Just yesterday I got home from a scheduled service at a BMW dealership and having been told the tire pressure had been set to the "correct value" I checked the tire pressure with my Moroso pressure gauge. I was pleased to find that the Moroso gauge confirmed that all four tires were within half a psi of the recommended level (35psi front, 39psi rear). Although this incident was not a laboratory calibration, the match between the work of a reputable service department and my Moroso gauge was extremely satisfactory. This convinced me that a) the BMW dealer used an accurate pressure gauge and the service technician handled it with care and b) the Moroso pressure gauge retained its high accuracy after 6 years of use.
