Just received my hard case. I have several concerns. I bought black. It's not opaque, and translucent black over pearly white doesn't actually look as good as I thought it would. I'm not taking points back for this, but thought I could start with that and maybe even suggest a different color if it doesn't sound appealing to you. So what worries me the most is the build quality. The surface is not smooth in texture. Overall it looks more or less silky in texture, but small parts of it are less shiny and less smooth. The result is "rough patches" on the surface that not only appear flat and darker, but also feel a bit rougher. do not scratch the surface of the laptop. I raised this concern in the Questions section of the product listing but received no response. So if you're buying this to protect your laptop from scratches, be aware that installation requires tightening hard plastic clips around the edges of your laptop. The clips will rub against the case when removed and reinstalled. For you OCD types like me, this could mean damaging your laptop's finish. Only time can tell. After all, I'm not really worried. I bought a Chromebook to travel light and toss it in my backpack with the expectation that it could withstand some abuse. If that offers more protection at the expense of some scratches around the contact points, so be it.
