I was surprised how nicely they were packaged. The drawer can be used to store small machines when not in use. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the lack of instructions. If you've never made a pom pom or just used the one you make your own base on, you have no idea what to do with it. There is nothing to define the parts. In the first instruction, with a picture, it says "wrap the wool in a semicircle". OK, which one? There are 4 semicircles. I wrapped one of the four but it made no sense. Then it was "Wrap the other side", but which "other side" are you talking about? I dropped the boxed instructions and went to Youtube where there are videos of it. It wasn't any better. In general, what is written on the packaging. I read the rest of the instructions and got to the part where it says "Open pom-pom maker both ways". open it? Where? I didn't see anything to open. I was about to return the item when I decided to see if I could find another video that might be more helpful and I did. The one I found shows how to pull out small half circles that wrap around TWO. semicircles on each side. They showed me how much yarn to wrap and all the other little things that are missing from the instructions. When we got to the last step which said open the pom pom maker, I still didn't understand how to do that. Then she said that sometimes it's hard, but you just split into parts. So I did it and it worked! Thanks to a video called The Secret to the Fluffy Pom Pom - Clover Pom Pom Maker, I now have a great day making pom poms. This lady explains everything very clearly and in detail. I'm so glad I found it.
