The underwater camera housing is Ike-lite style, the buttons are easy to use and the shutter button and video start mode are easy to use. with a gloved hand (when immersed in cold water). The single body o-ring is easy to service and comes with all the necessary service tools such as: B. a light plastic o-ring remover to avoid scratching or nicking the ring and plenty of silicone grease for a while. The release to open the chamber is fantastic and gives real confidence in how snug it is. Additionally, the o-ring itself is visible through the body so you can see it creates a strong seal all around. The case also comes with 3 moisture removal bags that can be placed in the anti-condensation case with the camera in case you need to open the case to place the camera in a non-air conditioned and dry environment. My only gripe is that the HP R817 camera itself comes with a proprietary battery that lasts long enough for stills but is very limited for video. After no more than 12 minutes of video, a fully charged battery will be completely discharged. So I keep my videos short and keep lots of charged cells to share during my surface intervals. But then again, this is a digital camera for photography, so that it records video at all is just a big plus. Either way, if you have any doubts about taking the HP R817 into the water or into a very humid environment, you will be delighted with this quality case. Experience a blast of memories for life!
