A device like this is, for all practical purposes, very old technology. So if you need a small recorder, it's probably better to use a digital voice recorder. They are small, light, inexpensive and advanced technology. I just bought this Memorex unit because I needed to listen to and decipher some old microcassettes lying around and it does the job perfectly. However, if you need to use or record microcassettes indefinitely, consider investing more money in a better brand and model. The controls on this device are a bit clunky and the buttons are a bit small. I used a lot of this technology as a kid, and I feel entitled to attest that if the technology seems clunky and low quality, it probably is.
